Just a short post tonight, I want to take a second or two to thank all of my fanatics on Twitter. When I started blogging a few years ago I never really thought much past my nose. But now I realize that having an audience to speak to makes my words that much more resonant.
Every tweet that goes out and every person who reads my quaint words deserves a word of thanks. I do appreciate the time people spend promoting Exploring Winnipeg and Beyond. Without you all I would just be a lone voice talking into a silent wind.

Well friends it looks like Winnipeg has done it again. First it was a trickle with Kitty Midnight Madness . Then the trickle became a river with Maria Aragon and her YouTube sensation flooding the world and making Lady Gaga cry.
This however is total internet anarchy at its finest. Local copywriter Jarrett Moffatt is living the Sheen dream in style. His parody website displays a large talking head in the likeness of Charles himself. Clicking on Sheen’s mellon produces one of the hundreds of ghastly quotes he has given in interviews during his recent troubles with the producers of Two and a Half Men.
Charlie Sheen as seen on Live the Sheen Dream.
Live the Sheen Dream has accumulated over 16 million hits in just a few days of operation, 243 000 “Likes” on Facebook and almost 12 000 distinct tweets on Twitter.
All of this from a humble Winnipegger who wanted to sell a couple of T-Shirts. Not bad Jarrett, not bad at all.
Story Update: I have just learned that the Live the Sheen Dream website has been having technical difficulties due to the incredible amount of traffic it is receiving. The servers are unable to handle the traffic, but techs are working on a solution as I type this.
I know from the many, many comments that I get every day on here and on my other blog feeds, Facebook and Twitter, that I have the best readers on the planet. Apparently the world agrees with me, since I posted the my last Friday Fun Video, Kitty Midnight Madness has started to go viral on YouTube around the globe.
The Kern-Hill Furniture inspired ad staring Andy Hill, has made hearts pitter patter for lovable rescue kittens here and apparently everywhere. From Winnipeg the news has spread to Fort Frances, Ontario and even far-flung Miami, Florida. Where a drinking game was invented in honour of the video. No doubt causing many many college aged students to swear off Tequila and Kittens for the foreseeable future.
Approaching 320,000 hits as of February 10 it’s expected to be a certified viral sensation, one million hits, as of this weekend. No one seems to know why videos like this go ballistic but cuteness certainly seems to be helping this one. So spread the word, and get those lines of communication buzzing. Let’s make Kitty Midnight Madness the internet sensation it truly deserves to be.
For all of you who have not yet seen this heartwarming video, here you go. Enjoy!
It seems like the worm has turned once again in North Africa and the Middle East. People sick of generations oppression and brutal autocratic regimes have started to rise up against their governments and demand freedom.
In Tunisia the Jasmine Revolution has taken root and President Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali has been forcibly removed from office after 23 years of iron fisted autocratic rule. Fueled by high unemployment and poverty all the country needed to ignite into rage was a spark. That spark came courtesy of a college aged fruit vendor. Charged with selling fruit in a public market without a permit, the man committed suicide. Burning himself alive.
A Shrine to Mohamed Bouazizi
Using Facebook and Twitter, news of the tragedy spread and people mobilized in the streets. Promising that with their blood and souls they will sacrifice themselves for the martyr. The weight of his populace upon him Ben Ali fled the country and the government was toppled. His bank accounts frozen and family members being held for crimes against Tunisia.
