Next Year, Bombers.

It was a hard loss for us on Sunday seeing our struggling Blue Bombers crash hard in the 99th Grey Cup.  It wasn’t so much the score of 23-34 in favor of the B.C. Lions but all the emotions that were built up over a season of hoping and dreaming.

Mr. Doug Brown, has by all accounts played his last down of football in this or any other league.  He is the elder statesman of the team in most interviews and one hell of a battler on the defensive line.  For Doug to retire with 11 seasons as a Blue Bomber under his sizable belt without a Grey Cup ring on his finger is a shame.  But that is the vexing thing about pro sports.

On the Menu: Lions vs. Bombers – Grey Cup 99

Well as you all can expect I am getting a small house full tomorrow for the 99th Grey Cup.  My home town Winnipeg Blue Bombers are facing the B.C. Lions in Vancouver.

Blue and Gold Forever!!

So of course it falls to me to cook game day food. What do I have on the menu you may ask.  Well lots of things. Lots of things indeed.   I actually plan to round out the food groups this year which is something that has been lacking on past years.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers win, next stop the 99th Grey Cup.

I am sitting and defrosting as I write this.  Smiling too.  As I posted in Blue and Gold forever I am Blue and Gold through and through.

Getting ready for the game!

Today Darlene and I witnessed history in the true sense of the word.  The Winnipeg Blue Bombers prevailed over the Hamilton Tigercats by a score of 19 – 3 and won the East Final.  Next week will see them in the 99th Grey Cup vs the BC Lions.

East Side rule #1: Come early, stay late, cheer loud!

Now it’s all well and good that Winnipeg won the day, but it is also a bittersweet event that today was the last day that the venerable Winnipeg Stadium will play host to a Blue Bomber game.  Today the temperature hit a balmy -10 Celsius and the crowd turned out in full force.

East Final

So as many of you know I am a huge supporter of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers,  not quite a fanatic but a huge enthusiast none the less.  Darlene on the other hand is way off the deep end, she has the gear and the means to sit out in minus one million degrees.  Yes, I am talking absolute zero blue blooded.

OBBY

Now for the uninitiated football fan in Winnipeg, it is not a feeling or a wanna be thing. Those who are true believers, stay till the last second in every single game, regardless of score or cause,  we are true blue do or die.

Bombers, Jets and Turkeys oh my!

Well for my fans across the globe welcome to Canadian Thanksgiving weekend.

As it turns out I have a great deal to be thankful about.   First and most clear I am typing again with both hands on a brand new computer.  Actually its kinda freaking me out with its lack of lag and invincibility maybe I should tape a Superman sticker across the front of it. Continue reading
